JUST IN: Norbert Mao Locked Out Of Speakership Race As NRM Invites Expression Of Interests For Candidates
Laroo-Pece legislator also Democratic Party president General Norbert has been locked out of the Speakership race by the NRM party after it opened expression of interest for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 11th parliament.
The party’s Apex organ Central Executive Committee sitting today rescinded the endorsement of troubled Anita Among who painfully bowed out of the race after being forced by the party chairperson as investigations into illicit wealth accumulation and corruption take centre stage.
According to Dr. Tanga Odoi the Electoral Commission Chairperson of NRM says that NRM members of parliament are invited to submit their expression of interest for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 12th parliament.

Tanga Odoi also revealed that expression of interest will close tomorrow Saturday at exactly 5pm ahead of the NRM parliamentary caucus which will be meeting at state house Entebbe on Sunday to vote for the party candidate.
News of expression of interest for Speaker and Deputy Speaker with in NRM have come a surprise to many who had believed that the endorsement of Jacob Oboth-Oboth and Thomas Tayebwa by the Chief of Defense Force (CDF) and his Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) was final.
Norbert Mao who even attended the NRM week-long caucus at Kyankwanzi had already expressed interest and was the happiest man when Anita Among painfully dropped out of the race. However, Tanga Odoi has vehemently told him off that his office is only accepting interest from only NRM party members not independents or those who signed MOU with the party.
“If you have signed an MoU with NRM, it can serve in another situation; but for expression of interest for the speakership race, we want NRM purely”-Tanga Odoi told jounalists at his Kyadondo Office.
