Position : Human Resource Manager - Kampala
Job Summary
The Human Resource Manager is responsible for overseeing all human resource functions including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, policy implementation, and compliance with labor laws. The role supports organizational growth by ensuring effective workforce planning, employee engagement, and the development of a productive and professional work environment.
The ideal candidate will provide strategic HR leadership while supporting operational teams in maintaining high standards of employee performance, discipline, and workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resource Management
Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with company objectives.
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention processes for employees across all departments.
Coordinate workforce planning and staffing requirements in line with operational needs.
Maintain and update employee records and HR databases.
Ensure proper administration of employee contracts, leave, attendance, and benefits.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
Promote positive employee relations and a productive work environment.
Handle disciplinary matters, grievances, and conflict resolution in accordance with company policy and labor laws.
Coordinate employee performance appraisal processes and support performance improvement initiatives.
Advise management on HR best practices and employee management matters.
Support staff engagement, motivation, and welfare initiatives.
Training & Development
Identify training needs and coordinate employee learning and development programs.
Facilitate induction and orientation programs for new employees.
Develop succession planning and talent development initiatives.
Monitor effectiveness of training programs and staff development activities.
Compliance & HR Administration
Ensure compliance with Uganda labor laws, occupational health and safety standards, and company regulations.
Develop and implement HR policies and employee handbook updates.
Prepare HR reports, workforce statistics, and management updates.
Coordinate payroll inputs and support payroll administration processes.
Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of employee information.
Health, Safety & Organizational Culture
Support implementation of workplace health and safety policies.
Promote diversity, inclusion, professionalism, and ethical conduct within the organization.
Lead initiatives that strengthen company culture and employee engagement.
Support organizational change management initiatives when required.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field.
Professional HR certification is an added advantage.
Minimum of 5–7 years’ HR experience, preferably within logistics, transport, or related industries.
Strong knowledge of Uganda labor laws and HR best practices.
Experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR management systems.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Working Conditions
