Norbert Mao Admits: I Wanted Anita Among Out of Speaker’s Chair
Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Norbert Mao has said his role was to remove Speaker Anita Among from office, alleging that she abused her position.
Mao claimed that concerns had been raised across the board: “Civil society was making an alarm, MPs were making an alarm, the opposition leaders in Parliament were making an alarm.”
He added, “The problem was the position of Speaker because that office was being abused. Someone needed to shake that chair.”
The statement comes amid ongoing tensions between the Executive, Parliament, and opposition over the Speaker’s conduct.
