Ntungamo: Arsenal Fans 100 Iron Sheets for Local Health Unit
Arsenal fans in Rwahi, Ntungamo district, have turned their Premier League title celebrations into a force for community development, raising more than 100 iron sheets to support construction at Rukukuru–Rwahi Health Unit. The contribution was mobilized during a colourful celebration of Arsenal’s historic 2025/26 Premier League triumph, held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Rwahi Satellite Hotel.
The event drew about 500 supporters from Ntungamo and neighbouring districts and quickly evolved from a football party into a major community drive. Festivities began with a vibrant brass band procession through the streets of Rwahi town, before culminating in a lavish luncheon at Satellite Hotel, where fans enjoyed abundant food, drinks, and spirited speeches.
Kampala businessman Simuka Muhamedi, who served as guest of honour, set the tone with a dramatic gesture—donating a cow that was slaughtered on site to feed the crowd. He urged supporters to channel their passion for Arsenal into long-term community projects, promising to donate two cows for every future Arsenal trophy to fund similar feasts.
“We are not just fans cheering for the same jersey. Supporting Arsenal has sewn our hearts into one fabric, so let every trophy we win be a reason not only to celebrate but also to feed our neighbors,” Muhamedi said. “I pledge two cows for every future Arsenal trophy for a community feast. Lastly, I charge my fellow fans: let us shift this energy beyond the pitch and into building the home we all share.”
The chairperson of the organising committee, Katongore Hamis, popularly known as Witare, a heavy transport vehicles businessman in Rwahi, applauded the fans for backing both their club and their community. He revealed that four cows had already been slaughtered to mark Arsenal’s league victory and vowed that more would follow if the club adds the UEFA Champions League trophy.
“Today we celebrate not just a trophy, but the heartbeat of a community that never walks alone,” Witare said. “We have slaughtered four cows today to mark our Premier League victory, and we are ready to slaughter even more if Arsenal adds the Champions League trophy.” He added that the group is building a family that goes beyond matches and meat, with plans to form a formal Fans’ Association to sustain their unity through both grief and joy, insisting that football ends but brotherhood must endure.
Several fans, including Hajji Kakande and Amanya Denius, called for a shift in mindset so that the same energy invested in following international clubs can be directed toward local sport. They noted that, with proper support, young talents such as Paul Michurezi and Mukundane could become stars in their own right, rather than the community only celebrating foreign teams.
Their efforts come as Arsenal basks in the glory of being officially handed the Premier League trophy for the 2025/26 season on Sunday, May 24, 2026, ending a 22-year wait since their last league crown in the 2003/04 campaign. For the fans in Ntungamo, that long-awaited victory has already translated into something more tangible: a health facility that will serve their community for years to come.
