They’re Congratulating Me”: Otafiire’s Clap Back Is the Most Ugandan Thing You’ll See Today

Kahinda Otafiire, freshly appointed Minister of Water and Environment, just served his old school the most polite yet devastating response on X.

When Kitabi Seminary Old Boys’ Association (KISOBA) posted a congratulatory message celebrating their alumnus — Alumnus No. 0879/66, K1966 — on his new cabinet appointment, Otafiire replied with characteristic bluntness:

“Thank you for congratulating me, albeit after expelling me in Senior One. Hahaha!! — K.O”

The minister, a retired Major General and one of Uganda’s most outspoken political figures, essentially reminded his old school that they showed him the door before he became a cabinet minister. Twice over, apparently.

The tweet has since gone viral, resonating with anyone who has ever been underestimated, written off, or told they wouldn’t amount to much.

The lesson? Getting expelled in S.1 is not a career-ending event. Take notes.
