The Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Ngere Paciko, has announced the screening of all parliamentary support staff to verify appointments, confirm employment status, and validate job descriptions in line with the Assembly’s structure.
According to the Speaker, the exercise will cover all departments and support units, including those he says only come to receive money.
“We came here to know our selves, there are faces that appeared today here that I do not see every day, I know tomorrow and next tomorrow new faces will appear. There are those who work from 8 to 6 while others just come to receive money, no, no you must work hard,” he said.
These include cleaners and messengers, Information, ICT, Hansard, logistics and procurement, the Parliamentary Service Commission, staff attached to the parliamentary caucus, drivers, and administrative officers.
According to the Speaker’s press unit, the exercise also aims to establish the total number of employees in each department to improve workforce planning and enhance fiscal accountability.
