Douglas Lwanga responds to criticism over Bobi Wine’s alleged lack of support
Douglas Lwanga has weighed in on the ongoing conversation about helping others, saying generosity should not be viewed as the responsibility of only the wealthy.
His remarks come amid criticism directed at musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine by media personality MC Kats following the death of veteran singer Master Parrot.
In a post on X, MC Kats questioned why Bobi Wine had allegedly not contributed towards the vigil and funeral arrangements for his longtime friend.
Naye even food or water for your old school friend’s death and Vigil you can’t provide you people are so meeeaan yet rich. Bobi n your pple needaaa. While Douglas did not directly mention either MC Kats or Bobi Wine, he shared a broader perspective on the subject of giving, arguing that kindness should not be measured by wealth.
Helping and giving has no formula, it’s not for the wealthy only. It’s not a must, it’s not about how much you have, it’s just a heart. The burden shouldn’t be placed on a few.
The media personality went on to highlight everyday situations where people have opportunities to help others but often choose not to.
We have thrown old clothes yet someone needed clothes. You have thrown food in the dustbin yet someone slept hungry. Someone needs five minutes of your time for advice on career or business but you are busy for anyone. Someone needs rent of 50k, another chooses to blow 12 million in one night in a bar
Douglas emphasized that everyone can positively impact another person’s life regardless of their financial status.
We all have power to make life better for another person; we just choose not to. This is the irony of life. So don’t wait for the rich man to do good, you too can play your part. Let’s lift each other up.
Master Parrot, whose death has shocked Uganda’s entertainment industry, is set to be laid to rest today in Kamengo along the Masaka Road.
