Uganda explores Premier League partnership to boost tourism – Tourism Minister Nakawuki
Tourism minister, Susan Nakawuki Nsambu, has revealed Uganda’s ongoing negotiations with the Premier League teams to have the ‘Visit Uganda’ branding on their jerseys.
Speaking to the media, the minister expressed the need to aggressively market Uganda globally to boost the tourism sector.
Nakawuki explained how she is already taking on various opportunities to market the country, especially online through bloggers, print media, and other avenues.
She also revealed that the ministry has already commenced negotiations with teams in the English Premier League to market the country through branding their jerseys with the ‘Visit Uganda’ logos.
We are negotiating with different teams in the Premier League so that we can also brand their jerseys with ‘Visit Uganda’. We have so many fans here who have a passion for Arsenal, so if we are able to advertise with the team, it would be very helpful to market our country.
We are also very keen on marketing on social media, and we are to negotiate with bloggers to help us market. We are ready to use any opportunity to market our country because that is what was missing.
It should be noted that countries like Rwanda have already benefited from similar marketing campaigns with the Visit Rwanda sports sponsorships.
