Bushenyi Police Complete Investigations, Move to Charge Blogger Ninye Tabs
BUSHENYI — Police in Bushenyi District have completed investigations into a case involving blogger and social media commentator Andrew Natumanya and are preparing to arrest and prosecute him over allegations of criminal trespass, reckless driving and causing bodily injury due to reckless driving.
According to police records at Bushenyi Police Station, the case is registered under CRB 1131/2025.
The offences under investigation are listed as criminal trespass, causing bodily injury due to reckless driving, and reckless driving.
Police sources familiar with the matter said investigators have finalized their inquiries and submitted the file for further action, paving the way for Natumanya’s arrest and possible prosecution.
The development follows a public dispute involving the Commissioner for Transport Regulation and Safety, Winstone Katushabe, whom Natumanya has accused of accumulating wealth.
Natumanya recently stated on social media platforms, including TikTok, that he had been investigating Katushabe and had visited the area to take photographs, some of which he later shared on X.
“So, for Katushabe to come out and start issuing threats. He has gone to police, reported cases against me,” Natumanya said in one of his videos.
The blogger dismissed allegations that he had unlawfully entered private property.
“Katushabe’s house is right next to a road. I drove personally. I drove past that house because it is more so in our village, and the gentleman goes and reports trespass, criminal trespass, against me for driving past his house, you know, because his house is by the roadside,” he said.
Natumanya also claimed that a complaint had been made alleging he nearly knocked someone at the residence.
“He also reports that I attempted to knock someone at his house, so he reported attempted murder. Now Katushabe, as an individual, has chosen to take me on, but I don’t care,” he added.
However, local leaders interviewed during the investigations challenged Natumanya’s assertion that the area where the incident occurred is his home village.
Adolf Kanyomozi, the LC III Chairperson, said investigators sought clarification on Natumanya’s connection to the area.
“It is true Katushabe has property in Bugongo LC1, Kabingo Parish,” Kanyomozi said.
“However, I have showed the video of Natumanya, who claims to hail or live in the area, to the chairman LC1, who said he has never seen him too,” he added.
Kanyomozi further stated: “I don’t know Natumanya, I have never seen him anywhere in our area. He is not here.”
The LC I Chairperson of Bugongo, Edward Kanena, expressed similar views.
“I don’t know that man called Natumanya. He is not born here. And I have never seen him,” Kanena said.
Natumanya, who is popularly known online as Ninye Tabs, hails from Kabwohe in Sheema District, where his late father, Mzee Tabandama, was buried.
It was not immediately clear when police intend to effect the arrest.
Efforts to obtain an official comment from Bushenyi Police on the status of the case were ongoing by press time.
Under Ugandan law, a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of competent jurisdiction.
