Bukedea Woman Member of parliament and the immediate Former Speaker of the 11th Parliament Annette Anita Among might be off the hook following reports that the president met her last weekend at her for all her sins after weeks of trouble which even made her get booted from the Speaker’s race which she dearly loved.

Anita Among’s fate was defined in just 10 days that saw her fall from the pinnacle of authority to just a mere Member of parliament (MP) a position which till date has questions on how she went through unopposed after conniving with Electoral Commission to delete all her opponents from the voters register and blocking those who had gathered the courage to contest against her during nominations in November last year.

Hello broke loose when Anita Among was invited to a state house meeting just after the president had taken his oath for another term extending his grip to 45 years. She was questioned and tasked to explain her wealth and her Shs3.4billion Rolls Royce which to date remains at the centre of the controversy and investigations.

What followed were detectives launching search operations at Anita Among’s residences around Kampala in Nakasero, Kigo and Ntinda. The search operations extended to her office at parliament, her swanky bonking pad in Bukedea, to her parent’s residence and her Personal Assistant’s home also in Bukedea. Detectives also found time to storm her Mama Bukedea FM radio, Her Nursing School and Hospital as well as her Bukedea Comprehensive College.

Investigators harvested a lot of stuff which they deemed fit to implicate her for any wrong doing. Items discovered included huge volumes of cash, confidential documents, computers, cameras and six of her luxury vehicles including the Rolls Royce which is at the centre of this entire storm currently parked at police headquarters in Nagulu.

The embattled former Speaker was last seen in public on 13th May when she appeared at parliament to swear in for another term and has reportedly been under house arrest ever since the operations were launched into her residences.

Now whispers from the corridors of power indicate that Anita Among met with president Museveni over the weekend to mend the broken ties and also seek forgiveness for any wrong doing to which the old man from Rwakitura reportedly accepted to grant her a 2nd chance even when he omitted the Name Anita Among from his cabinet.

The same whispers suggest that as the IGG submitted their a report of their findings on Anita Among and with another report by the detectives also being prepared. President Museveni disagreed with his son also the CDF on how to handle the Anita Among issue, he reportedly chose to forgive her, return her confiscated items while his son wants the former powerful woman from Bukedea tried and taste the walls of Luzira prisons.

This has reportedly caused discomfort among her haters who wanted her to be tried and pay for her sins and if the rumors are true, she might never be tried or even be produced in any court to face charges of corruption, illicit enrichment among others.

President Museveni has always forgiven several corrupt government officials, even recently he ordered some bosses in police and internal affairs to take forced leave over corruption and the ration of those tried and convicted is very small compared to those he forgives, those he tells to resign and end up walking scot free with their loot ready to construct apartments, hotels, swanky homes and farms sitting on huge chunks of land.

The PLU secretary General also Kasambya county MP David Kabanda who was at the frontline with guns blazing against Anita Among who was his best friend is among those who are not okay with Museveni’s forgiving heart saying affairs can’t be run like that when Ugandans are just excited and later the culprits are let off the hook without paying for their sins.

If we’re serious about fighting corruption, we can’t stop at exciting the public with House arrests and headlines. People must be prosecuted and convicted so everyone learns the lesson. The habit of forgiving, only for them to fight us again later demoralizes every anti–corruption crusader. You can’t convict Nandutu over 300 iron sheets, then forgive the one who stole the entire economy. The law must apply equally big or small fish.
