Pallisa County MP Calls for Calmness Over His Petition

It is not right to discuss an issue before an honorable court in the media, but I just want to inform the people of Pallisa County that their decision to vote for me is firm, and any outcome from court will not stop me from serving the community.”

“I am committed to do what I promised you during our campaign that we started way back in 2016 when I was a youth councillor, and because of my leadership abilities, Mr. Okurut John Michael, the then LC5, landed his eyes on me to become his vice chairperson, the office that exposed me more and better,” Hon. Aisu said.

Hon. Aisu said he has so far procured a standby community ambulance, water bowser, tents, and chairs for Pallisa County, which people are to use free of charge.

“My people always have a big problem accessing the district water bowser, which is actually meant for road works, when there is need of much water in social functions such as burials, weddings, among others. I have fulfilled some of the things that I can handle even before I get my first salary. What pleases me is that people from Pallisa have moved away from politics of tribalism and religion and are now focusing on who has the ability to deliver to all people uniformly, which President Museveni refers to as bad, barbaric politics,” Hon. Aisu said.

Turning to service delivery, Aisu said he was committed to ensuring the services that are key to people’s daily lives are greatly improved.

“In the health sector, what is highly needed is the elevation of Pallisa General Hospital to a Regional Referral Hospital for Bukedi North, covering the districts of Budaka, Kibuku, Butebo, and Pallisa, and it will be close to Kumi, Bukedea, and Ngora, given the improved road network,” Hon. Aisu said.

Hon. Aisu held a mega function in which thousands of people across the county converged at Nalufenya Primary School in Pallisa Town Council to celebrate his victory and swearing-in as a Member of Parliament for Pallisa County.

However, Mr. Okurut John Michael, the RCC of Soroti City, asked the people of Pallisa to refrain from divisive politics, which was leading to the loss of Julius Okurut Arecho, whose head was nearly cut off on the eve of the general elections.

Okurut, who was talking at the burial of Afande Stephen Okwana over the weekend at Okudelia Cell, Pallisa Town Council, said maturity in politics should be realistic in public and not sugar-coated by elites.

“We want to see Pallisa going to the next level, like gaining municipality status, which my council submitted and just needed follow-up,” Okurut said.

Olupot Simon, a resident of Kalalak Cell, West Ward, in Pallisa Town Council, said Hon. Aisu is committed to the service of his people regardless of the petition lodged against him.

Olupot said most leaders in Pallisa, once subjected to court, decline to give service and move around soliciting cheap popularity.

“It’s not good to mention names here, but the people of Pallisa know that once a Member of Parliament is dragged to court, he takes advantage of it to distance himself from serving the people, alleging all the money meant to improve service is being consumed in court.”

Kawa Naizuli of Kasodo Sub-county said Aisu worked for his position of becoming a Member of Parliament, as he was ever there with them at all times.

“This boy had no money but could pay whatever condolence, within his means, to bereaved families with whatever amount he could afford, and he should be left to serve. After five years, we should evaluate his delivery, then either renew his contract with us or get someone else. But being in court all the time makes us, the common people, miss the service,” Naizuli said.

Hamisi Amisi, one of Ibrahim Aisu’s mobilizers, said people should accept that in politics only one person who gets the largest number of votes is considered.

“Election is not like Primary Leaving Examinations, where we say ten got 4 for 4 aggregates in primary and they are all admitted to secondary schools,” Hamisi said.
