ASP Elly Maate officially takes over office
ASP Elly Maate has officially taken over as the police spokesperson for the Rwenzori East Region.
He assumed office today, following his transfer from the Kigezi region in early June 2026, where he served for over 15 years. He was replaced by Rwenzori East police spokesperson, SP.Nelson Tumushime.
Maate noted the importance of collaboration between police and all stakeholders in the region, including the media, to combat crime effectively.
He urged members of the public to stay in close contact with law enforcement through established communication channels, highlighting that fighting crime is a shared responsibility.

The Rwenzori East Regional Police Commander (RPC), SSP Denis Odoch, asked the media in the region to accord a good working relationship to the new officer and police in general to ensure the community is able to receive timely information.
