Bebe Cool says he felt “set up” after unexpected encounter with Bobi Wine

For years, the relationship between Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine has remained one of Uganda’s most talked-about rivalries, blending music competition, political differences, and years of public back-and-forth. So when the two unexpectedly found themselves at the same table during Eddy Kenzo’s 10-year celebration concert, it instantly became one of the most discussed moments of the night.

Speaking in an interview, Bebe Cool revealed that attending the concert at Kampala Serena Hotel had not been part of his original plans.

According to the singer, the event promoter personally visited him and persuaded him to not only attend but also purchase a table for the celebration.

“I told him I would be available, but I bought a table at the back because I didn’t want attention,” Bebe Cool explained.

His intention, he said, was simple: make an appearance, stay for about 30 minutes, and then leave for another engagement.

However, shortly after arriving, he received a message informing him that the Katikkiro wanted to see him. Without suspecting anything unusual, he made his way to the VIP section.

What he did not know was that Bobi Wine was already seated at the same table.

“I didn’t know Bobi was seated on the same table with the Katikkiro,” he said.

As he approached, the crowd noticed the unexpected development and excitement quickly spread across the venue.

Bebe Cool says the surprise only hit him when he finally reached the table.

“That’s when I saw Bobi. I felt I was set up,” he said.

He added that he believes Bobi Wine had also been invited to the event, although the two had no prior knowledge that they would cross paths.

Despite the surprise, Bebe Cool maintained his composure. He first greeted the Katikkiro before extending a handshake to Bobi Wine.

“There was no problem,” he implied, noting that the interaction remained respectful.

According to Bebe Cool, the Katikkiro even asked him to sit at the same table, turning what many expected to be an awkward encounter into a brief display of civility between two men whose names have often dominated opposite sides of Uganda’s entertainment and political landscape.

While fans may continue to debate their rivalry, the moment showed that even longtime adversaries can share the same space without drama.
