Kampala, Uganda: Mrs Natasha Museveni Karugire, the daughter of Uganda’s President, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and First Lady Janet Museveni, Friday shared a deeply personal message of faith and perseverance, encouraging Christians to keep their focus on Jesus even in the midst of life’s greatest storms.

Natasha’s message comes barely a day after First Lady Janet Museveni publicly thanked Ugandans for praying for her during a recent health scare, saying her recovery was a testimony that “the God I talk about is a living God.”

In a video shared on her official X account (@Nyinancweende), Natasha reflected on the biblical account of Peter walking on water in Matthew 14:25-31, saying the passage had taken on new meaning for her over recent months.

“I found myself in this situation so many times in life, but very much in recent months and weeks, like Peter,” she said.

The First Daughter explained that the story teaches believers to keep their attention fixed on Christ instead of life’s challenges.

“I’ve really learned, like so many believers and followers of Jesus, that when I keep my eyes on Jesus, no matter what is happening around me, I can walk on the water. I can do what seems impossible.”

Natasha said that whenever her attention shifted to the surrounding circumstances, she found herself overwhelmed, drawing parallels with Peter’s moment of doubt as described in Scripture.

“When I focus on what’s happening around, the storm, the wind, the waves, the problem in my life or in the physical realm, like Peter, I begin to sink, to drown, to go down, to be overcome.”

Describing Jesus Christ as “the storm master,” she said faith enables believers to overcome circumstances that appear impossible. “I personally know and have come to be intimately acquainted with a storm master, with Jesus Christ, the King of all Kings, Savior, Redeemer.”

“When He says ‘come’ and my eyes are on Him and not on the waves, not on the storm, He enables me and all of us to be able to walk on the water.”

She also encouraged Christians to openly share their personal testimonies of God’s faithfulness, citing Revelation 12:11, which speaks of believers overcoming “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”

“I would love to hear your testimonies, what God has brought you through personally. Let’s overcome together in the name of Jesus.”

Natasha’s reflection follows renewed public attention on the First Family after First Lady Janet Museveni broke her silence earlier this week, expressing gratitude to Ugandans who had offered prayers during her illness.

In her message, Janet thanked President Museveni, whom she referred to as “Mzee,” for leading the nation in prayer and praised God for her recovery. “It is a confirmation that the God I talk about is a living God. He is not a myth, He lives!” the First Lady wrote.

She added; “Thank you all for coming out publicly to pray for me. Thank you for all those continuous prayers and also for the kind birthday wishes. Thank you for letting me know just how much I am loved.”

The First Family has increasingly used social media in recent days to express gratitude, faith, and hope following the First Lady’s recovery, with Natasha’s latest message focusing on trusting God during life’s uncertainties and encouraging fellow believers to remain steadfast regardless of the storms they may face
