A 37-year-old woman, identified as Evidence Orishaba, the wife of Pastor George Nafayo of Reformers Church (Abagorozi), is being held by police following an alleged extramarital encounter at a lodge in Rukiga District.

The incident occurred on Thursday, June 25, at Vision Jointex Bar and Lodge in Kakatunda Trading Centre, Muhanga Town Council, along the Kabale–Ntungamo Highway. According to police and local residents, Orishaba was allegedly found at the lodge after reportedly arranging to meet a man who fled the scene before officers arrived.

Pastor Nafayo, a resident of Butoore Village, Nyakasharara Parish in Kabale District’s Kaharo Sub-county, said he had given his wife money earlier in the day to purchase clothes for their five children at the Bukinda weekly market. However, after receiving information from residents that she had been seen with another man, he followed up on the reports.

The pastor said he mobilized officers from Bukinda Police Station together with local residents before proceeding to the lodge, where they allegedly found his wife inside one of the rooms. He claimed the unidentified man escaped moments before police entered the premises.

“I gave her money for our five children’s clothes. Instead, she used it to book a room for adultery,” Pastor Nafayo alleged.

He further claimed that he has endured long-standing marital challenges, accusing his wife of infidelity and alleging that her actions have negatively affected the family’s businesses and finances. According to the pastor, he previously sold land worth Shs19 million in an effort to rescue one of their struggling businesses.

Pastor Nafayo also alleged that mobile phones recovered from Orishaba contained audio recordings and conversations allegedly coordinating the meeting with another man. The recordings have reportedly been handed over to police as part of ongoing investigations.

When questioned, Orishaba admitted going to the lodge but denied any wrongdoing. She maintained that her actions were a response to repeated accusations of infidelity by her husband, saying she had grown frustrated by the allegations. She declined to elaborate further.

The LC I Chairperson of Butoore Village, Julius Tisasira, confirmed that local leaders have previously handled the couple’s domestic disputes on more than three occasions, describing the family as having a history of marital disagreements.

Police arrested Orishaba and took her into custody as investigations continue. By press time, no formal charges had been announced, and authorities said inquiries were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case has attracted widespread public attention in Rukiga and neighbouring areas, sparking debate over marital trust, family conflicts and the importance of allowing police investigations to determine the facts before conclusions are drawn
