Todwong Urges City Mayors to Mobilize Residents for Production

NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong has called on city mayors to mobilize residents to engage in production, saying Uganda’s cities have large populations that require a steady supply of goods and services.
Speaking on Thursday as guest of honor at the inaugural meeting of city mayors and town clerks organized by the Urban Authorities Association of Uganda (UAAU) in Gulu City, Todwong said all 10 cities in Uganda should establish research desks to gather basic information and guide decision-making.
He further urged urban residents to embrace President Museveni’s message on wealth creation and the four-acre model in order to join the money economy. Gulu City Mayor Labeja Julius Acire said the meeting was meant to assess key issues facing secondary cities and develop resolutions aligned with the NRM Manifesto and the 10-fold growth strategy.
Lira City Mayor Sam Atul also called for increased government funding to help cities deliver better services, while UAAU General Secretary Francis Barabanawe said the gathering was intended to promote experience-sharing among city leaders.
