MUKONO: Thieves Dupe Housemaid to Gain Entry into House, Steal Pistol, Cash, TV Sets
Unscrupulous thugs gained free entry into a residential building in Mukono at Upper Nabuti Cell, Central Division, Mukono Municipality after duping the housemaid. Consequently, police in Mukono are investigating a case of aggravated theft reported on 1st July 2026.
According to a police statement issued today, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, by ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the thugs convinced the housemaid that they had been sent by the homeowner to collect a faulty television set for repair.
Once inside, the suspects stole three television sets, Shs10 million in cash, a CCTV DVR, a mobile phone, and a metallic safe containing a pistol. The stolen property was reportedly loaded into a white Toyota Noah before the suspects fled the scene.
Police visited and documented the scene, and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
The Uganda Police Force urges the public, particularly homeowners and domestic workers, to remain vigilant and always verify instructions directly with property owners before granting access to unknown individuals. Criminals are increasingly exploiting deception to gain entry into homes and commit theft.
