Museveni Reportedly Rejects Daudi Kabanda’s Parliamentary Commission Bid in Heated NRM CEC Meeting
Reports from within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) claim that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni expressed strong dissatisfaction during a recent Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting after the name of Daudi Kabanda was reportedly presented among nominees for appointment to the Parliamentary Commission.
According to sources, the proposed list was being read before CEC members when Kabanda’s name surfaced, allegedly prompting an immediate reaction from the President. Insiders claim Museveni questioned Kabanda’s suitability for the influential position, leading to a tense debate among party leaders.
It is further alleged that Haruna Kasolo attempted to defend Kabanda’s nomination, arguing that his appointment could strengthen NRM support in Buganda. However, sources say the President remained unconvinced.Following the disagreement, the committee reportedly considered alternative candidates, with names such as Susan Jolly Abejja, Nakut Faith, and Jessica Ababiku emerging as preferred choices.
Neither the NRM leadership nor President Museveni has officially commented on the reports, while Kabanda has also remained silent. The claims therefore remain unverified pending an official statement from the party
