Zahara Toto reveals salary cuts as reason for leaving Spark TV
Outspoken media personality Zahara Toto (Zahara Nalumansi) has finally opened up about the real reason why she and Anna Talia Oze left Nation Media Group’s Spark TV for the Naguru-based NBS TV.
Speaking about the move, Zahara revealed that they decided to quit after the company introduced salary cuts as it battled financial challenges.
We quit NTV and Spark TV because they had deducted our salaries. The company was going through a difficult economic situation.
She also confirmed claims previously made by socialite Sheilah Gashumba, who once called out NTV Uganda for paying its employees’ peanut salaries.
They were dealing with cost-cutting measures, and Sheilah Gashumba spoke about it some time back. The company had financial challenges, and as a result, they started slashing people’s salaries.
Zahara added that, having carried numerous responsibilities since childhood, she could not afford to remain in a job where her earnings were being reduced.
When NBS TV recognized their value and offered them a better opportunity, she and Anna Talia made the decision to leave on good terms.
“I’ve had a lot of responsibilities since childhood, so I couldn’t just stand by and watch my salary being cut. When their competitor saw our worth, we moved respectfully without any fights or exchanging harsh words.”
