Uganda Is Heading In A Dangerous Direction” — Museveni’s Son-In-Law Odrek Rwabwogo Sounds Alarm Over Politics And Governance
Odrek Rwabwogo, President Yoweri Museveni’s son-in-law and a prominent businessman, has voiced concern about Uganda’s future, warning that growing political tensions and weakening institutions could threaten the country’s progress.
Rwabwogo said he is troubled by the direction Uganda is taking and urged citizens to engage in honest discussions about governance, politics and national development.
He argued that the greatest danger facing the country comes not from external threats, but from internal challenges that undermine public trust in institutions.
He raised concerns over allegations of vote rigging, bribery, ballot stuffing and election-related violence, saying such practices weaken democracy and make it harder for capable and honest leaders to emerge.
According to Rwabwogo, the increasing influence of money in politics risks sidelining talented professionals and public servants who could contribute to Uganda’s development. He warned that a system driven by wealth rather than merit could discourage hardworking citizens from participating in leadership.
His remarks have attracted significant attention because they come from a figure closely linked to Uganda’s ruling establishment. Many observers view his comments as a notable contribution to the ongoing national debate on governance, accountability and electoral reforms.
As Uganda moves closer to another election cycle, Rwabwogo has called for unity, integrity and stronger institutions, stressing that the country’s future depends on leadership based on competence, fairness and service rather than money and political influence.
