Besiktas is still pushing to sign former Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, according to the latest reports.

The Egyptian is yet to secure his future after departing the Reds by mutual agreement this summer. The 34-year-old spent nine years at Anfield between 2017 and 2026, firmlyestablishing himself as one of the club's greatest-ever players.

Talk of his next move went quiet immediately after the season ended, no doubt owing to Egypt's participation in the FIFA World Cup, where it went on a historic run to the Round of 16. Since the conclusion of the tournament, speculation has ramped up significantly, with clubs in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United States rumored to be interested in signing the winger.

In particular, Turkish giant Besiktas has been most heavily linked with Salah over the past week. Some reports even went as far as suggesting a deal to bring him to Istanbul was all but complete.

However, that prompted a response from Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas, who has never shied away from addressing rumors involving his client on social media. He posted on social media platform X last week: "I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?"

Since then, Besiktas president Serdal Adali has addressed the situation and confirmed discussions have taken place between the relevant parties. However, he then went on to accuse Salah's agent of increasing his financial demands once rumors of the potential move leaked to the media.

Speaking to outlet WinWin, Adali said: "Salah has given his approval for this transfer and his agent initially responded positively to our offer. Salah spoke to both our technical director and our sporting director and gave his approval as well.

"But later, as soon as it was written in the media that ‘the transfer had been completed’, the agent raised the financial demands. The agent raised his commission to unbelievable figures, reaching about 35 percent.

"From our side, such a percentage cannot be accepted under any circumstances."

Besiktas has not given up hope of signing Salah, though, as the latest reports from the same outlet claim Adali is still pushing hard to complete the deal. The player, meanwhile, is enjoying his post-World Cup vacation ahead of what could be an exciting season as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.
