Maverick city lawyer Male Mabirizi has protested the decision made by Buganda Road Magistrates Winnie Nankya Jatiko on remanding him further on grounds of the absence of the trial magistrate Ritah Kidasa Wanyama.

Nankya’s decision to further remand Mabiriziresulted from the submission of the State Attorney Joan Keko who told Court that Kidasa who was supposed to preside over the matter was sick.

She asked for an adjournment telling Court that on the next appearance, State will respond to the several application Mabirizi made before Kidasa including the mandatory bail application after he has spent more than 180 days without his main trial kicking off.

In response, Mabirizi insisted that Kidasa is absenting herself intentionally adding that this was the third time when she was hiding from presiding over his matter.

“She thinks that subjecting me to this persecution will break my spirit of fighting for rule of law in this country. Tell her that her intentions of using her power as a judicial officer to revenge on me because of the petition I filed against her at the Judicial Service Commission will not help, one day she will pay or her children,” a furious Mabirizi warned.

He claimed that three months back, when he appeared before Court, another magistrate come in and informed him that Kidasa was not present and the only instructions she had were to adjourn the matter to another date which she did.

But shockingly, Kidasa was in her chambers presiding over an extradition application against UPDF soldier Micheal Katungi.

Mabirizi disclosed that it has now come to two months when Kidasa is hiding from him and not executing her official duties.

Mabirizi wondered why Kidasa is hiding from presiding over his matter when he himself made several applications praying for her recusal citing her biasness against him as a person. All the applications were dismissed.

A furious Mabirizi then turned his guns on Nankya asking her why she was participating in his trials well knowingly that he filed a number of criminal cases against her at the Criminal Division of the High Court.

Nankya explained to Mabirizi that she was not participating in his trial but was just sitting-in for Kidasa who is the wife to New Vision Chief Executive Officer Don Wanyama, who was not present.

She adjourned the matter to 11th of August when the State will respond on Mabirizi’s mandatory bail application.

Mabirizi was arrested in February 2026 at around Mulago kubiiri near pastor Samuel Kakande’s church and he was charged under the Computer Misuse Act.

He was again charged with broadcasting without a license after the Constitutional Court declared part of the Computer Misuse Act unconstitutional.

Mabirizi is accused of using his social media platforms to annoy the person of the Chief Justice Dr Flavian Zeija and Justice Musa Ssekaana after he branded them as incompetent and participating in corruption activities.
