Hon. Centenary on the recently concluded LC1s elections
The Forum for Democratic Change Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda, Hon. Centenary Robert, has dismissed as baseless the Kasese District leadership’s call for Parish Development Model chairpersons and executive members who contested in the recently concluded LC I elections to resign from their positions.
The call follows a press statement issued yesterday by the Kasese District Senior Commercial Officer, Mr. Simon Kasereka, who argued that participation by PDM officials in the LC I elections creates a conflict of interest and therefore warrants their resignation.
Speaking to our reporter at his home in Kamaiba Cell, Kasese Municipality last evening, Hon. Centenary maintained that PDM leaders are not civil servants and said requiring them to resign for seeking elective political office is unjustified and merely diverts attention from more pressing issues. The former Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament further revealed that FDC is compiling a list of polling stations where it alleges election results in favor of its candidates were altered to benefit National Resistance Movement candidates, as the party prepares for possible legal battles.
