Police Arrest Five Over Alleged Robberies In Kilooza, Mukono
Police in Mukono have arrested five suspects following social media reports alleging that suspected scrap dealers were terrorising residents in Kilooza, Mukono Central Division, through assault and simple robbery. The arrests followed the circulation of videos and audio recordings on social media showing allegations of criminal activity in the area.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Luke Owoyesigyire, police launched an intelligence-led operation under the command of the Division Police Commander to identify and apprehend individuals allegedly involved in the reported offences.
Police reviewed CCTV footage from Mukono Central Police Station and subsequently identified and arrested five suspects. The suspects include four juveniles and one adult male. They are currently in police custody as investigations continue to establish their alleged involvement in the reported offences.
Police said the operation is still ongoing and that further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Owoyesigyire commended members of the public for sharing information that can assist law enforcement agencies in identifying and addressing criminal activities in communities.
