Ntinda: Police Officer Arrested for Double Murder
A Uganda Police officer has been arrested following a tragic shooting incident that left two people dead at Ntinda Police Barracks. The suspect, identified as Police Constable (PC) Adei Alex, is being held at Jinja Road Police Station on charges of murder.
The incident occurred on the evening of September 29, 2024, at around 8:00 PM. According to police reports, PC Adei entered the residence of Kongai Babra, 32, his estranged wife, and opened fire on Police Constable Tusiime Seeze, who was inside the house at the time. As Kongai attempted to flee, Adei shot her as well, fatally wounding both victims.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the details in a statement: “PC Adei fled the scene after the incident but was swiftly apprehended by fellow officers. He is currently in custody at Jinja Road Police Station, facing charges of murder.”
Preliminary investigations suggest that PC Adei and Kongai Babra had previously been married but had separated due to domestic issues. It remains unclear what sparked the fatal attack, but the police are continuing their inquiries. The firearm used in the shooting, along with 12 rounds of ammunition, has been recovered by the police.
The bodies of both victims have been transported to the City Mortuary at Mulago for postmortem examination.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased,” ASP Owoyesigyire added. “The Uganda Police Force is fully committed to ensuring that justice is served.”
