Jyotsna Ruparelia
At the top of the list is Jyotsna Ruparelia, the richest woman in Uganda, with an estimated net worth of $5.5 million. She is the wife of Sudhir Ruparelia, the richest man in the country, and plays a major role in managing some of the family’s leading businesses.
Jyotsna is the Managing Director of Kabira Country Club, Kabira International School, and Ruparelia Group. In addition to these roles, she heads the grants division of the Ruparelia Foundation, where she oversees charitable initiatives. With her expertise in foreign exchange operations and financial management, Jyotsna has been instrumental in the growth of the Ruparelia business empire.
Maria Kiwanuka
Following closely is Maria Kiwanuka, the second richest woman in Uganda, with a net worth of $5 million. Maria is a seasoned economist, businesswoman, and politician who served as the Minister of Finance between 2011 and 2015. She now works as the Senior Advisor to the President on financial matters, managing Uganda’s relationship with the Bretton Woods Institutions.
Maria’s business interests include ownership of Maria Galleria, Akabozi Ku Biri, an urban shopping arcade, and a radio station. Her ventures and leadership roles have solidified her status as one of Uganda’s most respected women in business.
