Trouble for Ssemakadde as Details Emerge on a Mistake He Did When He Visited Kiiza Eron in Kitalya
Renowned lawyer and activist Isaac Ssemakadde finds himself at the center of a heated debate following claims that he visited political detainee Kiiza Eron in Kitalya Prison and advised him to apologize to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to secure his release.
Advocate Godber Tumushabe raised the issue in a public statement, seeking clarification from Ssemakadde regarding the alleged visit and its implications.
“President Isaac Ssemakadde, just out of curiosity! I am following some conversations that you visited Kiiza Eron in Kitalya prison and asked him to apologize to Muhoozi in order to be released. Could this have some truth?” Tumushabe wrote.
This statement has ignited speculation and controversy, with critics questioning the motivations behind such advice, if true. Kiiza Eron, a vocal government critic, has been incarcerated for months on charges that many believe are politically motivated.
The suggestion that Isaac Ssemakadde, known for his unwavering stance against political oppression, could have proposed an apology has left supporters puzzled and divided.
While Isaac Ssemakadde has yet to respond to the allegations, the issue has sparked a broader conversation about the ethical dilemmas faced by legal and political activists working within Uganda’s contentious political environment.

Some argue that advising Kiiza Eron to apologize may have been a pragmatic move to secure his release, while others view it as a potential betrayal of principles.
Even as the debate unfolds, all eyes remain on Ssemakadde for a response to clarify his position and provide context to the claims.
