Missing Ntinda woman found alive after Husband's abuse pushed her to do this for 28 days
The Uganda Police Force has confirmed finding Natukunda Sharon, a 29-year-old housewife who disappeared from her matrimonial home in Kigowa village, Ntinda parish, Nakawa division, Kampala. Sharon went missing on December 16, 2024, prompting her worried parents to file a missing person report at Ntinda Police Station.
Speaking to police officers after her discovery, Sharon revealed that she fled her home due to persistent domestic violence from her husband. "Omwami yantulugunya," she told officers, explaining how abuse forced her to abandon her residence.
The breakthrough in the month-long search came on January 13, 2025, at approximately 11:50 AM when police received credible information about her whereabouts. A resident spotted Sharon in Kabaga-Kayanga, a village located in Kitezi parish, Kasangati division in Wakiso district.
A team of police officers immediately tracked her location and found her at the office of the Local Council Chairman in Kiteezi. Upon questioning, Sharon cooperated with law enforcement and led them to her temporary shelter, situated roughly 200 meters from the chairman's office where she had been renting a room.
During the preliminary interview with police officers, Sharon provided detailed accounts of the domestic abuse that drove her to flee her marital home. The victim chose to seek refuge in Wakiso district, maintaining her distance from her reported abuser while hiding for her safety.
Following standard procedure for domestic violence cases, police officers have transported Sharon to a medical facility for thorough examination and necessary treatment. The police are currently handling the matter according to established protocols for domestic violence cases.
The successful location of Sharon ends a 28-day search operation that involved multiple police units and community leaders across Kampala and Wakiso districts. Her discovery brings relief to her family members who had been searching for her since mid-December.
