Man Who Mobilised Bobi Wine's 2021 Campaign Dumps NUP for PPF, Appointed Spokesperson

Julius Apeku from Arua in West Nile, has joined the People Power Front (PPF), moving away from his previous role in the National Unity Platform (NUP).

Apeku has long been involved in Ugandan politics. He was a key strategist for Robert Kyagulanyi’s NUP campaign in the 2021 elections, helping organise the large Olii rally in Arua.

After stepping back from active politics to focus on his studies and work, Apeku has now become a leader in the PPF. He has been appointed Acting Spokesperson.

Apeku is also a scholar, lecturing at Nile University, and works as the Director of Peacebuilding Programs at Oasis Peace Web Organisation. His work focuses on conflict resolution, peace education, and community development, particularly in areas with social challenges.

He holds a Master's Degree in Sustainable Peace and Conflict Management and has been involved in initiatives aimed at resolving ethnic tensions, land disputes, and refugee issues.

His organisation, Initiatives for Community Transformation West Nile (ICoT-WN), works to empower youth and encourage economic development.

The formation of the PPF and Apeku’s involvement have sparked interest in opposition circles. While the movement’s plans are not fully clear, it awaits to see how it will position itself against Uganda's established political parties.

PPF is led by Hadji Musa Misango (Chairperson) and Spartan Mukagyi (Secretary General) and is set to announce its leadership and future plans at an upcoming conference, which will provide more details on its direction.
