"Ugandans Have Finally Woken Up" – Emmanuel Dombo Says Bobi Wine & His NUP Has Been Lying All Along

The Director of Communications for the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Emmanuel Dombo, has made bold claims against the National Unity Platform (NUP), accusing them of misleading Ugandans for years.
Speaking during a media interview, Dombo said Ugandans are now aware of what he calls the "deception" by the opposition.
"Ugandans have finally opened their eyes! For years, NUP has been feeding people with lies, but now the truth is clear," Dombo stated.
According to him, the opposition has used emotional appeals rather than real solutions to Uganda’s challenges. He claimed that NUP leaders often spread falsehoods to gain public sympathy.
He also criticized the opposition’s continued accusations against the government, especially claims of election fraud, abductions, and economic mismanagement.
Dombo insisted that these allegations were part of a strategy to create fear and discredit the NRM government.
However, NUP leaders have dismissed Dombo’s remarks, insisting that their claims are backed by evidence. They argue that the ruling government has been using state institutions to silence critics.
Political experts believe that Dombo’s comments are part of NRM’s wider plan to weaken the opposition ahead of the 2026 elections.
One analyst, speaking anonymously, said the ruling party sees NUP as a major threat and is trying to reduce its influence.
"This is a political game. The government wants to shape public opinion against NUP before the elections," the analyst stated.
Despite Dombo’s strong words, the opposition remains popular in several parts of Uganda, especially among the youth.
Many young Ugandans see NUP as a symbol of change and hope for a better future.
As Uganda moves closer to another heated election season, both the ruling party and the opposition will continue to fight for public trust.
NUP supporters argue that they are the voice of the people, while NRM insists that the government is working hard to develop the country.
