Geoffrey Ongima, also known as Tower, a supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has spoken out against police brutality and economic struggles in Uganda.

Ongima, who was injured by security operatives during the recent Kawempe North MP by-election, expressed frustration over the treatment of opposition supporters.

"We don't come here (NUP offices) because of Bobi Wine.

We are here because of what we go through as ordinary citizens of this country," Ongima stated.

He highlighted the rising cost of sugar, questioning why prices are high despite Uganda being a sugarcane-producing country.

"Is there anyone here who doesn’t know that the price of a kilogram of sugar is high, yet we grow sugarcanes in this country!" he exclaimed.

His words reflect the daily struggles of many Ugandans who are finding it harder to afford basic needs.

Ongima strongly criticized the violent actions of security forces against opposition supporters. "Please stop brutalizing us and after which you blame Bobi Wine.

Does he have or own police or the military which brutalizes and tortures us?" he asked.

He believes that security forces unfairly target NUP supporters while shifting blame to their leader, Bobi Wine.

According to Ongima, President Yoweri Museveni should actually appreciate Bobi Wine for promoting discipline among his followers.

"President Museveni should even be more thankful to Bobi Wine for telling us to maintain discipline," he added.

Despite Bobi Wine’s call for peace, Ongima warned that continued oppression could lead to uncontrollable public outrage.

"I'm so sorry to say this, but a day will come when we'll turn into beasts and Bobi Wine will have no control over us," he said.

"This is because we are tired of being turned into a punching bag by security operatives all the time."

He also shared his personal struggles, revealing that he has children but feels hopeless about his future.

"You've disabled some of us. I have kids, but I have no future because President Museveni 'ate' it," he lamented.

The recent Kawempe North MP by-election saw NUP’s Elias Nalukoola declared the winner, despite reports of voter intimidation and violence.

Ongima’s statement reflects the growing anger among opposition supporters who feel that the government is using security forces to suppress them.
