Sam Omara in Critical Condition

Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sam Omara, is still alive despite reports circulating on social media claiming his death, Police Spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma has confirmed.
Speaking to Nile Post in a phone interview, Kituuma said, “I have just spoken to one of his sons 15 minutes ago. He told me that his father is in critical condition but not dead.”
Omara, 65, has been battling a number of serious health issues in recent years.
He has been receiving treatment for prostate cancer and was recently diagnosed with kidney failure.
Last year, he was admitted to the private wing of Mulago National Referral Hospital for dialysis.
His ongoing battle with prostate cancer has required long-term medical attention.
A towering figure in Uganda's police force, Omara served as the Kampala North Police Operations Commander, a position that placed him at the center of political tension during the 2011 walk-to-work protests led by Dr Kizza Besigye, the former president of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
His legacy remains controversial, with many opposition activists accusing him of heavy-handed tactics during his tenure.
Despite his retirement, Omara continued to serve in the private security sector. He recently assumed the position of Deputy CEO at Arrow Security Services, a firm owned by Capt. Mike Mukula, where he oversaw operations.
In light of his health struggles, the Uganda Police Force committed to covering Omara's medical bills after his family reached out to Capt. Mukula, who subsequently engaged President Museveni for support.
As Omara continues to battle for his health, his family remains hopeful and is rallying support from friends and well-wishers.
Several reports suggested Sam Omara was dead but police say the family has said he is still alive
