'Abduct Bobi Wine & Take Him To Your Basement To Learn Runyankore If You Can' Nambooze Dares Muhoozi

Member of Parliament Hon. Betty Nambooze has boldly challenged the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, over recent political tension involving opposition leader Bobi Wine.Speaking at a public event, Hon. Nambooze dared Gen. Muhoozi to “abduct Bobi Wine and take him to his basement to teach him Runyankore—if he can.” She said this in response to ongoing concerns about political intimidation and threats against opposition voices in Uganda.

Nambooze stressed that Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, is not just a person, but an idea that cannot be silenced.

“You can arrest a man, but you cannot arrest an idea,” she said.

The strong words come amid growing fear among opposition supporters, who say the government is cracking down on critics.

Some allege that security forces have been secretly detaining political opponents.

Gen. Muhoozi, the son of President Yoweri Museveni, has in the past made controversial remarks about the opposition, and has been seen as a possible successor to his father.

Nambooze’s comments have stirred debate on social media, with many praising her courage, while others worry her words might raise political tensions.

As of now, there has been no official response from Gen. Muhoozi or the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF).

Bobi Wine, the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has continued to speak out against what he calls government oppression.

He has faced arrests, house arrest, and alleged torture in the past. Still, he remains one of the most popular opposition leaders in the country, especially among the youth.
