ITMS,Police Boost Vehicle Recovery Efforts Across Uganda

The Intelligent Transport Monitoring System (ITMS), in collaboration with the Uganda Police Force, has reported a significant increase in the recovery of stolen vehicles and motorcycles across the country, thanks to intensified joint operations.

The Community Liaison Officer and Public Relations Officer at the Directorate of Traffic and Road safety SP Michael Kananura, confirmed the developments, applauding the partnership between ITMS and law enforcement in tackling vehicle-related crimes.

In a recent case, a vehicle bearing registration number UA812AW, stolen from Buloba along Mityana Road in Kampala, was swiftly recovered near Ntawo in Mukono.

The recovery followed a real-time alert from ITMS after the vehicle owner lodged a complaint with the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala.

According to Kananura, the system successfully tracked and located the stolen vehicle using real-time GPS data, demonstrating its efficiency in aiding police response

The Commercial and Relations Manager at Azat Intelligent Transport Monitoring System,Azat Akmyradov, commended the Ministry of Works and Transport and the Uganda Police Force for their unwavering dedication to the ITMS initiative.

He emphasised that their collaboration is fostering a safer transportation environment.

The Public Relations and Communication Officer at ITMS, Priscah Pearl Ayesiga, urged the public to immediately report any stolen vehicles or motorcycles to the nearest police station.
