Surprising detail missing from Prince Archie's birth certificate resurfaces

Eagle-eyed royal fans were quick to spot an unusual detail about Archie Harrison's birth certificate following his arrival on 6 May 2019 at the Portland Hospital

Fans spotted something unusual about Archie's birth certificate

Not much has been seen of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son since his arrival back in 2019. While his parents have not shied away from the spotlight, children Archie and Lilibet have remained in the shadows and away from the public eye.

At the time of his birth, royal fans were quick to scrutinise Archie's birth certificate - which is a matter of public record - and they spotted something unusual.

On the official document, Harry is listed on the document as 'His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex'. And this quickly left people scratching their heads.

Notably 'Prince' has been left out of his title. The reason for this is not clear, given that both William and Charles were titled 'Prince' on the birth certificates for their own children.

On Prince GeorgePrincess Charlotte and Prince Louis' birth certificates, William is listed as 'His Royal Highness Prince William Arthur Philip Louis Duke of Cambridge'. King Charles was the same, styled as 'His Royal Highness Prince Charles Philip Arthur George Prince of Wales' on William and Harry's birth certificates.

Baby Archie's birth certificate also revealed previously unknown details about his birth at the time. It confirmed that Meghan gave birth at London's private Portland Hospital, despite reports that she had opted for a home birth. On the document, the Duchess gave her name as 'Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex,' and listed her occupation as 'Princess of the United Kingdom'.

In contrast William is listed as a 'Prince' on his children's birth certificates

The couple's baby boy was born at 5:26am on Monday 6 May. Buckingham Palace released an official statement, announcing that Harry was present at the birth. The statement also noted: "The Duchess' mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage."

Harry and Meghan welcomed their second child, daughter Lilibet Diana, on 4 June 2021 in Santa Barbara. Harry again used his HRH title on the birth certificate; his last name is listed as 'HRH' and his first as 'The Duke of Sussex'.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle's name is written as her birth name 'Rachel Markle' - with Meghan being her middle name.

It raised eyebrows at the time since the couple had been told they could no longer use their HRH titles following their decision to step down as working royals at the start of 2020.

During their recent trip to Nigeria, Meghan opened up about her two children. The first day of their visit saw the couple head to a school which has received donations from their Archewell Foundation, the Lightway Academy in Abuja. While there they met with a group of kindergarten-age children who sang and danced for them.

Harry then asked the class: "Is singing and dancing your favourite class?" as Meghan added: "That's Lili's favourite class, maybe it's all the jumping around." The pair then visited a STEM class, as the children showed them some impressive robot cars they had created.

While Harry engaged with the class about their interest in electronics, Meghan detailed how Archie also likes construction. The pair also spoke on the subject of mental health while visiting the school. The discussion prompted Meghan to share a touching story about Lilibet.

She told the class: "We all have our story. And there's no shame in any single one of your stories. Even on the hardest days or darkest days, everything is a pillar of your strength by each of you being there. Your teachers see that in you. And we see that in you.

"And interestingly, so our daughter, Lili, she's much, much tinier than you guys. She's about to turn three. And a few weeks ago she looked at me and she would just see the reflection in my eyes. And she said 'Mama, I see me in you'. Oh, now she was talking really, literally. But I hung onto those words in a very different way. And I thought, yes, I do see me and you, and you see me and you, but as I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well."
