MTN Uganda has wrapped up its 2025 edition of the “21 Days of Y’ello Care” campaign with a major donation to the Tooro Kingdom, aimed at promoting digital inclusion and supporting vulnerable children.

In a handover ceremony at Best Nursery and Primary School, MTN Uganda—working with Bayobab Uganda, Maendeleo Foundation, and Clinic Pesa—unveiled a fully equipped ICT hub featuring 10 internet-enabled computers.

The hub is solar-powered, allowing continuous access even during power outages or school holidays, and is open to both learners and the surrounding community.

The school, which caters to 484 pupils, including 30 vulnerable children living at the Queen Mother Best Orphanage, also benefited from comprehensive upgrades.

These included a new solar energy system, separate dormitories for boys and girls, fruit tree planting, and new playground equipment.

In a parallel initiative, MTN’s Women@Work group donated UGX 20 million to Tooro Babies Home to enhance healthcare for orphaned infants.

Additional donations included essential supplies like cooking oil, detergents, and television sets.

“Our support to Tooro Kingdom goes beyond technology. It is about restoring dignity, expanding opportunity, and strengthening communities from the ground up,” said a representative from MTN Uganda.

Tooro Kingdom leaders praised the intervention, calling it a timely investment in the region’s future. “Supporting our children with education and care is the greatest investment in the future of Tooro,” one official said.

This year’s campaign, themed “Connecting at the Roots – Connecting Communities through Digital Tools”, featured similar activities in Kampala, Busoga, Alur, and other regions.

The initiative focused on improving digital access, youth empowerment, and community healthcare.

“The ICT hub is a game-changer. Our learners now have access to digital tools that will inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence,” said the school’s administration.

MTN Uganda reaffirmed its long-term commitment under its Ambition 2025 strategy, pledging continued investment in Tooro and other communities across the country.
