The excitement around police sports is reaching fever pitch as the qualification race for the Inspector General of Police (IGP)’s Cup 2025 officially comes to a close. After months of spirited competition, 32 police teams have emerged from a staggering pool of over 160 teams that have been battling it out since November 2024.

The focus now shifts to the Regional Block Stage, which is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, 28th June 2025, and run through to Sunday, 4th August 2025.

This stage features eight regional blocks, each consisting of four qualifying teams. Competitions will be played in both football and netball, with matches organized on a home-and-away basis, ensuring vibrant community engagement and team exposure across various police regions.

The winners of each block will then advance to the much-anticipated quarterfinals, which will take place in Kampala at a soon-to-be-announced venue.

These knockout rounds will bring together the best-performing teams from the regions, all vying for the prestigious IGP’s Cup and national recognition.

The IGP’s Cup, an initiative of the Uganda Police Force, continues to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and unity among officers while boosting morale across ranks.

It also fosters community-police relations by encouraging local support during the games.

With the regional stage now set, anticipation is high as teams prepare for intense competition.

The road to Kampala is paved with high expectations, and as the #IGPCupUpdates continue to roll in, all eyes will be on the top contenders to see who will rise to claim glory in the IGP’s Cup 2025.
