Ibanda Locals Rally to Build Church Offices

In a powerful display of unity and devotion, residents of Rugarama Cell in Nyarukyiika Parish, Ibanda district, have come together for a communal work activity to construct permanent offices for their local church , Rugarama Hiika in Rukiri Sub-county.
The effort drew participation from all corners of the community,including residents, religious leaders, politicians, and well-wishers,all working hand-in-hand to erect a permanent structure and install essential facilities to support the smooth running of God’s work.
During the Tuesday ground breaking,Gaston Tugyiraobwesigye, the Chairperson of the church, expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support and underscored the importance of the new facility.
“These offices will be instrumental in fostering spiritual growth, offering guidance, and strengthening the bond among believers. This is more than a building; it’s a pillar for our faith,” said Tugyiraobwesigye.
The event also turned into a platform for political pledges, with several aspirants joining in the communal work. Emmanuel Twebaze Omugalanda, who is eyeing the District Councilor seat for Rukiri Sub-county, pledged to support the elderly in the community.
“If entrusted with your votes, I will take responsibility for paying the water bills of our senior citizens,” promised Twebaze, earning loud applause from participants.
Local leader Sylivia Kamatara, the Chairperson of the Hiika, commended the presence and active involvement of political figures in the exercise.
“Our leaders have shown that they care about the people and the church. With such support, I am confident that the pressing issues of our community will be addressed,” Kamatara said.
The event was further graced by Paulas Mugisha Karekyezi, aspiring Member of Parliament for Ibanda South, and Amon Mwijukye, an aspirant for the LCV chairperson seat in Ibanda District. Both were seen mixing concrete, carrying bricks, and motivating volunteers.
“This kind of love for God and community is rare and powerful,” said Karekyezi. “You can count on our full support to continue developing this place both spiritually and socially.”
“I am inspired by the unity I have witnessed today,” added Mwijukye. “As leaders, our role is to uplift such initiatives and ensure that the people’s faith and welfare go hand-in-hand.”
The day closed with a prayer and song, as the community looked forward to the completion of the project — a new symbol of faith, unity, and hope in Ibanda South.
