Ugandans urged to invest in hospitality sector ahead of AFCON in Bunyoro

The Hoima city mayor Brian Kaboyo has asked natives of Bunyoro especially those with potential to invest both in Kampala and abroad to come and take advantage of the virgin opportunities in Bunyoro as Uganda eagerly waits to receive its first oil in 2026. Kaboyo made the remarks at the launch of Kabalega Resorts hotel in Nyamasoga Kabale Sub county Hoima district.

Kaboyo notes that the region is still virgin with no standard restaurant and high end bars, thus if people invested in these sectors given the influx of people and tourism they won't go wrong in business.

While at the launch of Kabalega Resorts in Nyamasoga branch in Kabale sub county Hoima district, the Hoima city mayor Brian Kaboyo asked people with potential to invest to take advantage of Bunyoro especially Hoima which is he says is a fertile ground for investment especially in the hotel and hospitality sector.

Kaboyo said the entire Bunyoro has no high end restaurants and bars yet the region is getting tourists, and classy people in the oil and gas sector who desire these services.

"We don't have high end restaurants and bars in the entire region, this is an opportunity because we are between two national parks but also a lot of people are coming in oil and gas, they end up into our hotels or any food points which are not standard" Kaboyo said

Kaboyo assured any potential investor of a conducive environment, saying their focus is to have as many investors as possible to spur development of the region.

"The time is now, we are ready to welcome investors in the hospitality sector which is still virgin" he stated

Peter Kajura the proprietor of Kabalega resorts in Masindi and Hoima is appreciative of the conducive environment with infrastructural development provided by the government noting that they are responding to the president's call to invest for development.

"The roads are all to standard, while in Kakumiro at state minister for transport the president said he has given us enabling environment to develop, i implore other potential people in Uganda and abroad that Bunyoro is the place to invest in" he stated

Kajura equally appreciated his family, customers and friends for their support and guidance.

"Without a great team at work you can never deliver, my family has indeed supported me but also our esteemed customers who make referrals to our hotels" he said

Anita Kamugarwire the Kabalega Resorts general manager assured their customers that they will continue their efforts to provide class services, noting that while they are the biggest hotel in the region, most of their customers have been as a result of referrals not advertisement.

"Referrals are better than millions of dollars put into advertisement, we will ensure we keep our services at standard to keep our flag high but also meet the brand needed in the region" she stated

Hassan Kugonza the Kabale sub county chairman assured the investor of a conducive environment and their support but asked him to consider availing business and jobs to their people in the area so that they can own the project.

"We thank the family that donated land, though bought but is a good gesture that has enabled our area to get such a hotel, but we ask the owner to consider our people supply the hotel but also be given jobs, thus will make them feel part of the project" Kugonza said
