Popular singer-turned-political activist Hajjat Stecia Mayanja has spoken out to clarify her political position, addressing widespread speculation that she is at odds with opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.

In a strongly worded statement, Stecia dismissed claims of rivalry between her and the National Unity Platform (NUP) president, affirming that she holds no grudge against him.

“I am not fighting Bobi Wine, and I can’t fight him,” Stecia stated emphatically. “My fight is with President Museveni, the elephant that cannot be hunted by one person alone.”

The singer, known for her fierce activism and outspoken nature, emphasized the need for unity among opposition figures if they are to make meaningful progress in the fight for political change.

“Let me chase him from this side, as Bobi Wine chases from the other,” she said metaphorically, likening Museveni’s long grip on power to a giant beast requiring a collective effort to bring down.

Stecia insisted that Uganda needs a united front, not internal opposition bickering. She called on all leaders and activists to put aside personal egos and focus on the bigger picture.

She further described Museveni’s regime as deeply rooted, requiring every activist to play their role from whichever front they can access.

Her comments have been widely circulated on social media, drawing praise from supporters for promoting unity within the opposition.

The message comes at a time when Uganda’s political opposition continues to grapple with internal divisions
