Video jockey VJ Junior, real name Marystuarts Matovu, has revealed he is contemplating retirement from video jockeying after years of dominating the Ugandan movie commentary scene.

Speaking about his future, Junior said he is ready to step back from the mic but not from the film industry entirely.

I might not leave the film industry and maybe change role to production or directing. The upcoming VJs might start feeling jealous that I have stayed too long, but they shouldn’t lose hope, I’m retiring soon.

VJ Junior noted that he has made personal investments over the years, though he prefers to keep the details of his achievements private. Despite that, his legacy remains undeniable.

Reflecting on his journey, Junior said his breakthrough was driven by a desire to be the best in the game—and he believes he accomplished that.

Whenever you do something and someone comes up to walk in your footsteps, it means you are doing something beautiful. I had my inspirations coming up and I also have those coming up looking up to me, that’s my legacy.
