He was getting treatment at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.

After his death, the family and top government leaders met at his home in Buziga to talk about burial plans.

The family lawyer said they are still waiting for official instructions before deciding the funeral date.

He served the country as Attorney General, Minister of Justice and Commerce, and later as a Supreme Court judge from 1997 to 2009.

He was known for speaking up for human rights, justice, and the rule of law.

Many Ugandans respected him for being brave and independent in court.

President Museveni shared his sadness on X (formerly Twitter). He thanked Justice Kanyeihamba for his long service to the country.

He also said he first met him during a debate at Makerere University, and they later worked together in government.

The funeral is delayed because his wife, Susan Kanyeihamba, is sick in the United Kingdom.

The family said they want to wait until she is well enough to travel.

Justice Kanyeihamba will be remembered as a man who served Uganda with honor, helped build strong laws, and stood for truth and justice
