The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has officially scheduled its 4th National Conference for August 27–28, 2025, to be held at the Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala.

Convened by NRM National Chairperson, President Yoweri Museveni, the conference will be held under the theme “Building a Shared Prosperity: Investing in Uganda’s Future.”

Thousands of party delegates from across the country are expected to attend and participate in key decisions that will shape the NRM’s path toward the 2026 general elections.

The conference agenda includes a keynote address by President Museveni, as well as the presentation of a report by the party’s Secretary General.

Delegates will then nominate and elect members to the Central Executive Committee (CEC), including the National Chairperson, Vice Chairpersons, and six regional representatives.

A major highlight of the meeting will be the formal endorsement of the party’s presidential candidate for 2026, based on recommendations from the National Executive Committee (NEC).

While Museveni remains the dominant figure in NRM and has led Uganda since 1986, all eyes will be on whether he declares intentions for a seventh term or hands over to a successor.

The conference comes at a time of growing public pressure for leadership renewal, especially from Uganda’s youthful population, with over 70% under the age of 30.

With opposition parties building momentum and forming alliances, the NRM’s decisions at Kololo will likely define the national political climate heading into 2026
