Museveni Arrives In Nairobi For Official State Visit

President Museveni has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, for a high-level official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and Kenya.

Museveni touched down in the Kenyan capital on today morning and was warmly received by Kenyan officials ahead of planned engagements with his host, President William Samoei Ruto.

The visit comes at a time when both countries are seeking to deepen cooperation in trade, regional security, infrastructure development, and energy.

In a tweet posted shortly after his arrival, President Museveni stated:

"I have arrived in Nairobi this morning for an official visit. Looking forward to engaging in bilateral talks with H.E. President William Ruto, as we work together to strengthen the bond between Uganda and Kenya."

The two leaders are expected to hold bilateral discussions at State House Nairobi, where key regional and international issues will also feature prominently on the agenda.

Sources within both governments have hinted at anticipated agreements in cross-border trade facilitation, oil pipeline collaboration, and joint security operations, particularly along the shared border.

This visit underscores the enduring diplomatic ties between Uganda and Kenya, two of the founding members of the East African Community (EAC). Over the years, the nations have collaborated on various regional initiatives, including infrastructure projects such as the Standard Gauge Railway and the Northern Corridor.

President Museveni’s visit also provides a platform for addressing long-standing trade concerns, including non-tariff barriers and customs delays, which have occasionally strained relations between the two countries. Both leaders have previously expressed their commitment to eliminating bottlenecks that hinder the smooth flow of goods and services.
