YES IT’S TRUE: State House Finally Reveals Why M7 Banned Daily Monitor And NTV From His Events.

On Tuesday, parliament of Uganda resumed sessions with top on the order paper approving loans totaling to Shs8 trillions which government is borrowing from different financial institutions including banks in Uganda and abroad.

Journalists working for National Media group, the mother company of NTV Uganda, Spark Tv, Daily monitor, KFM, Dembe FM and several others were shocked to learn that they were unwelcome at parliament over reasons they’re yet to be told.

As journalists from other media houses were granted access to the precincts of parliament, those from Nation Media were told to go home and had their accreditation cards withdrawn. The administration at parliament is yet to issue an official communication to NMG on the circumstances surrounding the stand off.

Parliament just joined State House which has been blocking NMG journalists from state events for the last seven months including President Museveni’s campaigns. NMG instead is given some photos and footage captured by the Presidential Press Unit to run in their bulletins.

For all these months since March, Nation Media Group were not aware of the reasons why State House and presidency blocked them from events involving president Museveni until today when one of Museveni’s aides opened up.

Kirunda Faruk who is Museveni’s Deputy Press Secretary revealed in a post on his X formerly twitter account that Museveni individually stopped NMG journalists from covering any of his events for allegedly misrepresenting and misreporting about him. He sighted one one instance when Museveni hosted MPs at his Kisozi farm on a wealth creation tour.

When Kirunda Faruk in his tweet revealed that Museveni banned NMG journalists from covering him as an individual leaves questions whether they are allowed them to cover him as president since many events the journalists are blocked to access with Museveni he attends them as president of Uganda not Museveni as an individual.

Several actors including those in government have tasked parliament to lift the veil off the blockade and allow Nation Media journalists to report freely than blocking them since the house makes decisions which have lasting impacts on the affairs and well being of Uganda.
