The Kampala Metropolitan Police have intensified intelligence-led operations across the city to tackle criminal activities and restore public safety. These operations target areas notorious for narcotic abuse, robberies, and other unlawful activities, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks.

On 30th October 2025, police carried out a pre-dawn operation in Wamala Police Post, Nansana Division, Wakiso District, following repeated reports of illegal drug possession and abuse. Eight suspects were arrested across sub-zones including Wamala Kasumba, Karanzi, Kinyarwanda, and Tabba, with suspected narcotic substances recovered. The suspects are now awaiting prosecution.

A similar operation took place on 31st October 2025 in Thailand, Katogo, and Kago areas of Kinawataka, Mbuya Parish, Nakawa Division. Police apprehended 16 individuals from known criminal hideouts, charging them with unlawful possession of narcotics and public nuisance.

In Old Kampala Division, officers conducted two operations in Nakulabye and Kisenyi, targeting thugs involved in robberies and drug use. Each operation led to the arrest of 24 suspects, with police recovering suspected narcotics and dangerous weapons. The suspects are currently undergoing screening and will be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.

Alongside enforcement efforts, the Kampala Police are emphasizing preventive measures through community engagement. On 29th October 2025, a community policing drive in Bulabira Kalitunsi, Najjera, focused on neighborhood watch, crime prevention, domestic violence, vigilance, and electoral offences. Residents were educated on how to cooperate with police through timely reporting and active participation in community safety initiatives.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, commended the public and local leaders for their support. He urged residents to remain vigilant, share credible information, and continue collaborating with law enforcement to maintain peace and security in the city.
