Arsenal's hopes of a comeback victory against Sunderland were dashed on Saturday evening when Brian Brobbey equalised in the dying moments at the Stadium of Light. Former academy starlet Dan Ballard had initially put Sunderland ahead, with Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard responding for the Gunners before Brobbey's late equaliser.

Despite Arsenal's impressive run of eight clean sheets across all competitions, it was Sunderland who drew first blood, with Ballard slotting past David Raya after latching onto Nordi Mukiele's headed pass and shaking off Declan Rice.

Nine minutes into the second half, Bukayo Saka levelled the scoreline, capitalising on Rice's high press to receive a pass from Mikel Merino via Eberechi Eze and fire home at the near post. Leandro Trossard then unleashed a stunning long-range effort to put Arsenal ahead with just over 15 minutes remaining.

However, the drama wasn't over as substitute Brobbey flicked home a late equaliser following Ballard's header from a cross into the box. With Manchester City and Liverpool set to face each other, dropping points this week may not be as damaging for Arsenal.

The first mid-week league match of the season sees Brentford visiting Emirates Stadium before Mikel Arteta's squad hit the road again to face Aston Villa. The Gunners then go head-to-head with Wolves in a clash between the top and bottom of the Premier League.

Title contenders Man City are up next for Liverpool before they return to Anfield post-international break to take on Nottingham Forest.

Arne Slot's team then seem to have a favourable Premier League schedule as they host Sunderland sandwiched between away games at West Ham United and Leeds United.

Man City wrap up this weekend's action with a Sunday afternoon match against Liverpool. Another challenging fixture awaits Pep Guardiola's side after the domestic pause as they travel north to play Newcastle United.

A home game against Leeds United follows, with a trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham marking their first December clash. Just a few days later, they're back at Etihad Stadium hosting newly-promoted Sunderland.
