Breaking News: High Court Delivers Ruling On Musician Walukagga’s Electoral Fate
High Court Judge Simon Peter Kinobe has delivered a ruling in the case where Musician Mathias Walukagga had appealed the ruling of the Electoral Commission throwing him out of the race in Busiro East.
On 9th this Month, Electoral Commission denominated Walukaga from the Busiro East race sighting irregularities in the documents he used to be nominated to stand for Member of Parliament. According to the Electoral Commission the mature age entry certificate which Walukaga used had long expired in June 2025.
He ran to court seeking to be re-instated in the race basing on the fact that the Electoral Commission lacked jurisdiction to rule on education related cases and it had taken over the roles of the National Council for Higher Education.
Walukaga also based on a letter of confirmation written by the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) which stated that the Mature age Entry certificate they gave to the Kadongo kamu musician remained valid for as long as he used it to enroll for further education since he’s already a student at St. Lawrence University.
His Worship Simon Peter Kinobe has delivered bad news to Walukagga, NUP and his supporters and upheld the decision of the Electoral Commission to denominate him from the Busiro East race.
In the ruling he delivered via email to the legal team of Walukagga and the two respondents, it’s now confirmed that Walukaga will not be on the ballot in 2026 even when he was poised to win the incumbent Medard Lubega Ssegona who was denied the NUP ticket.
