Two Police officers have been killed and dumped in a nearby bush by unknown assailants. The tragic incident occurred on the night of February 5, 2026, along Busota-Kisozo Road at Naibowa village in Kamuli District, leaving the local community in shock.

The victims have been identified as Aip Nambafu Peter, the Officer-in-Charge of Kiyinga Police Post, and ESPC Bakali Mwanje, approximately 26 years old, also attached to Kiyinga Police Post. According to Kajungu Ahmed, the GISO of Mbulamuti Subcounty, the officers left their post around 9:00 PM on a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle carrying a sack of maize brand, heading to the OC’s home in Nabirumba.

Around 11:46 PM, Kajungu received a call from an unidentified boda boda rider reporting the discovery of the OC’s body. Police responded immediately, registering the incident under Kamuli SD REF 06/06/02/2026, which corresponds to Kamuli CRB:155/2026.

Investigators, including DPC Kamuli Sp Mugarura Henry, D/CID D/ASP Tusingwire Richard, the District SOCO, Homicide, and Canine teams, visited the scene. They recovered a mobile phone, the motorcycle, and the sack of maize as evidence. Witness statements were recorded to aid the ongoing investigation.

The officers’ bodies were found with deep cut wounds on their heads, a clear sign of murder. Both were partly naked, and blood stains extended for about 200 meters along the road. The bodies had been thrown apart, suggesting the attackers intended to make a gruesome display.

No arrests have been made so far, but police are actively following leads as the investigation continues. The community remains anxious as authorities work to bring the killers to justice.
