Shamim Malende Allegedly Leaves For Germany For Treatment
Fresh reports making rounds on social media suggest that Shamim Malende, the newly elected Kampala City Woman MP, has allegedly flown out of the country to Germany for specialized medical treatment.
Malende, who was in January declared MP-elect after sweeping the race with the highest number of votes, was very active during the campaign period, moving across Kampala to mobilize support.
However, sources now claim that she quietly left Uganda earlier this month and is expected to stay in Europe for some time as doctors attend to her health condition.
The reports come against the backdrop of Malende’s long and public health struggle. Before the election season, the legislator reportedly spent over a year on her sickbed in Nairobi and other European countries after complaining of internal complications.
Despite her condition, Malende made a strong comeback and returned to Uganda a few months before the elections, where she battled Zahra Luyirika for the NUP ticket for Kampala Woman MP.
She eventually clinched the party ticket and went on to win the general elections, maintaining a relatively stable condition throughout the campaign trail.
As of now, Malende has not officially confirmed or denied the reports about her alleged trip to Germany, leaving the public speculating about her health and whereabouts.
